Images are major tools to help us visualize people, things, concepts, etc., and are therefore subject to the Manual of Style.
Quality
On most article pages, we use screenshots of the films whenever possible. With some exceptions, these screenshots must always be uncropped and unedited, as we prefer raw images over fan edited content. Cropping is only allowed when the screenshot does not mainly focus on the subject of the page. This can be observed for images inside Character infoboxes, as the film width can add other points of interest, which can hinder the focus on the subject character, thus we crop these images (1000x800).
File type
Always upload PNG images. Images of .png file extensions are lossless images, meaning that the quality will be preserved when the file is downloaded, re-uploaded, transferred, and etc.
Image licensing
If you're going to upload an image, it is not advised to use the upload feature in edit mode. Instead, go to Special:Upload (for a single image) or Special:MultipleUpload (for multiple images). There, you can choose the appropriate license to attribute the image with.
For screenshots of the films, do not choose a licensing option, whenever necessary. Instead, copy the template below and paste it on to the summary.
==Licensing== {{Image-screenshot|<!--name of the film-->}}
Naming an image
Name images correctly, appropriately, and descriptively. Many users fail to do so, even though it is too obvious. No one wants to see images named as "TreeGelbmanIMAGE34651.png" or "HDD2UScene1.png", or maybe even "343554-231122-02132019.png".
When uploading images for the infobox of a page, name it exactly like the page's title. This is a mandatory rule in character pages. If you want to replace the image, go to the link of the file and upload a new version. For help on uploading new versions of files, visit
Misnamed an image?
If you uploaded an image and did not name it accordingly, contact an admin about renaming the file.
Neglecting to follow this style within 1 week will result in the image being marked for deletion, or being immediately deleted.
