Biography[]
John Tombs was a serial killer, responsible for the deaths of six blondes. At some point, John was apprehended by the authorities.
On September 18, 2017, John was in the hospital for surgery. At the same time, a nurse at the hospital, Lori Spengler had decided to dress as the Babyface Killer and murder her roommate Tree Gelbman. Lori decided to use John as her scapegoat and drugged him and placed the mask and costume onto him, as well as undoing his restraints. Lori planned for everyone to presume that it was John murdering Tree. However, Tree was stuck in a time loop and thus all of her murders by Lori were undone. In one of the loops, Lori places the costume on Tombs before she kills Tree and Tree notices a report about Tombs on the news. Tree believed that Tombs was responsible for her murders and went to the hospital to stop him. She warned Nurse Deena but was too late, as Tombs had already been set free and chased her with a gun, killing Deena in the process and Tree's friend Carter Davis as well. Tree almost gained the upper hand on Tombs, but realizes if she killed him, it wouldn't have reset the day and Carter would've been permanently dead. Tree then decided to kill herself instead, resetting the day.
Tree suited up with gear and went to the hospital once more, preparing to kill Tombs. She managed to do so and believed the loop is finally over, only to once again awake on the same day. At this point, Tree realizes that her true killer was Lori.[1]
For some reason, Tombs passed away moments later.[2]

Behind the scenes[]
- In the novelization, his name is Joseph Tombs. This was also shown as his name early in the first film before the rest of the movie referred to him as John Tombs.
- There is a goof in the second film, in which Carter mentions that both Tombs and Lori are dead. However, the timeline in which Tree killed Tombs was undone, leaving some confusion to this statement.
